The 13u Mustangs will begin their first season on the full size diamond this fall. This will be a tremendous challenge for this group, which has struggled in a couple key areas of the game. First it will be a challenge on the mound. Making the jump to the 60 foot mound requires the ability to throw more strikes. Offensive numbers will be way down (balls that used to be homeruns on the small field outfielders will now be coming in to catch)! With the offense down, scoring generally comes down to walks and errors. The Mustangs lack pitching depth, and so the ability to get the ball over the plate over the course of an entire weekend will be a concern going into this fall. In addition, the Mustangs lack speed, and that will be an issue on defense (bigger field means more ground to cover). In all honesty I think the Mustangs are going to have to pick up a few more arms, and some more mobility if they want to have a successful fall campaign. If you feel you can bring either one of those two tools to the Mustangs, I would love to hear from you!!!
If you are interested in joining this group, please contact James Molinari at the email, or phone number at the bottom of this page. You are eligible to join the Mustangs if you were born on, or after May 1, 1998. As with all Carolina Elite Baseball teams please disregard roster size. Attendance is optional at all our tournaments, and so the actual traveling roster is almost always smaller than what you see listed on the website due to players missing tournaments. Moreover, this entire program is about learning to compete, and even if there is a large roster at a particular tournament your son will have an opportunity to earn his time and make it onto the field - the rosters are never closed!!!
