Improving your overall athleticism is another critical
part to maximizing your ability on the baseball field, and should be an
important part of your training. Improving your speed and
agility makes you better at everything!!!
On
offense, even if you never envision yourself as a potential
thief on the basepaths, your ability to score from second on a base hit to
the outfield, or score from 1st on an extra base hit make you more
valuable to your team.

On defense, just because
you rarely make an "error" does not mean you are a good defensive
player! If your coach thinks you cannot
cover enough territory (called "range") on defense at your position, it is going to be
tough to earn playing time. From a coach, scout, or recruiter
perspective, errors are not the measuring stick of a good
defender. Simple put, it is the amount of plays you make on defense versus
the amount of plays you do not make, and that includes balls you don't get
to!!! Carolina Elite Baseball offers year-round skill
sessions to address this important part of your baseball development.
These skill sessions focus on improving your overall athleticism, including: 1)
Increase each players ability to stop and start, change direction, and other
athletic maneuvers through increasing their explosive leg strength and
ability to control their body. 2) Teach
the physical skill of running!!! Just like any other motion in
sports (shooting a basketball, swinging a bat, hitting a golf ball, etc...)
running is a repeated movement that can be learned and refined.
Carolina Elite players have the opportunity to learn the art of running
at a very young age. These workouts teach how to properly coordinate
and move the body to give themselves a more efficient and explosive repeated
movement. Most players are very surprised at just how much there is to
learn about the skill of running!
